Pastor Erik Johnson was born in December, 1966, at Camp Kue, Okinawa, while his father was serving in the Army and his mother was an educator. He was baptized at St. John’s Episcopal church in Keokuk, Iowa. However, he was not raised in the faith, and was not given the assurance of his salvation in Christ until his late 30’s.

After high school, which he attended in the San Francisco East Bay area, Erik spent several years attempting a career as a bass player while supporting himself with various jobs ranging from freight clerk to roofer to maintenance. However, eventually, he came to the realization that he was not the next Jaco or Geddy, and returned to school to pursue a degree in Computer Science, which he received in 1998. After graduating, he took a position in Baltimore, MD, and in 2004, after a short stint in Portland, OR, moved to Seattle, WA. It was at this point that he met his beloved bride, Erin. They were married in October, 2006.

Soon after, he began to become aware of the work of the Holy Spirit, and entered into several years of bible reading and the study of theology, apologetics, history, and doctrine. This in turn led to a public confession of faith at Denny Park Lutheran Church in Seattle, WA, where he was soon put to work as the outreach coordinator and chair of evangelism.

In 2014, Erik and Erin moved to New York, NY, for what they believed was the purpose of continuing his technical career advancement. However, it soon became apparent that God had purpose for them in New York, as they served in various roles at of Our Saviour, New York (OSNY), Trinity in the Bronx, and True Light Lutheran Church. In 2018, Erik entered the SMP program at Concordia St. Louis, and was ordained in January, 2021, and thereafter continued his service as pastor to True Light Lutheran Church. In March 2022, he was called to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, in Yonkers.

In addition to his love of Jesus, God’s people, and all things theological and historical, Pastor Erik is a dedicated coffee drinker and is always more than happy to take the time to have a cup with anyone. He and Erin are known to host board game nights.

Rich Peko is a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. After serving in various offices since 1985, Rich, at the urging of then Pastor Leroy Leach, completed the 10 course, two year Atlantic District lay deacon training in 2011 and was commissioned as a lay deacon serving Holy Trinity on December 6, 2011. Since then, Rich has served this church and occasionally neighboring churches, through teaching, visiting, supporting the missions of the church, and, when needed, leading worship. He especially enjoys hosting the men’s bible breakfast. Watch for the upcoming breakfast.

Rich has been married to Linda for 46 years. They have both served as Sunday School teachers and Linda is currently the Sunday School superintendent. They have one daughter, Joy, an occupational therapist working with 3 to 4 year olds in a school setting. Joy helps provide the music for our worship services.

Rich currently works for Scarsdale Medical Group in the lab. He is a rabid baseball fan, supporting both New York teams and the Rockland Boulders. He enjoys golf, reading almost everything he can get his hands on, including the Pastor Stephen Grant novels, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas movies, and formulaic romantic comedies.

He also very much enjoys speaking about Jesus and what he has done for him and for all of us. If you’d like to talk, email him at Or call the church office and leave a message. He will get back to you.
